The Bourne Legacy

"Jason Bourne was just the tip of the iceberg." And now we finally get to see just how true that is with an all-new trailer for The Bourne Legacy which seems to have direct ties to Matt Damon's last turn as Jason Bourne in The Bourne Ultimatum. In fact, it looks like Bourne's path in the franchise directly influences the plot of this sequel starring Jeremy Renner as another agent named Aaron Cross. This new trailer finally gives us a look at the film's story and gets co-stars Rachel Weisz and Edward Norton in on the action with franchise characters played by David Strathairn and Joan Allen also appearing. This looks kick ass!

Here's the latest official trailer for Tony Gilroy's The Bourne Legacy, in HD from Apple:

Introduces us to a new hero whose life-or-death stakes were triggered by events in the first three movies.

The Bourne Legacy is both written and directed by American filmmaker Tony Gilroy, who started his career as a writer of scripts like Armageddon, Bait, Proof of Life and the original Bourne Trilogy, before writing & directing Michael Clayton and Duplicity. This screenplay, while not based on any specific Robert Ludlum novel, was rewritten until its current form, credited to Tony Gilroy and his brother Dan Gilroy (The Fall, Real Steel). Universal is bringing The Bourne Legacy to theaters everywhere on August 3rd this summer.

Yeah...ok...action. I get it..but Renner does not have the charisma that Damon had when he started this. I dunno...
    • AySpergss
I agree to some extents. Renner is a great actor but does lack the on the screen charisma that damon has, which will make it hard for him to lead a movie, as well as carry on a plot and a franchise that's already been done before. I think Renner is better suited for supporting roles like Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and even the bad guy role in S.w.a.t.
      • Liarenn
No way, Renner's eyes alone ooze more charisma than Damon ever did. Renner is a very gifted actor who can carry any movie he's in. Just ask any of his legions of female fans!
  • I disagree Renner is a very talented actor, i have no doubt's he did a great job, if the film fail is on other sector...

Damn good trailer, it looks like they're taking a reasonably interesting approach to weaving the narrative around Bourne's universe.  Pretty cool.
  • bat0u
Renner will deliver in this. I hope they give him a bow and arrows. =D
  • Starting over again with a new side story and connecting it to ultimatum is awesome. Although I do not know if I am the only one,but I liked the Vanludbuster books and would not mind seeing those on the big screen

It looks cool, but not amazing by any stretch.
  • Rosaleeadams
they created him...........the chickens have come home to roost and it looks like it could get very messy as a result

I bet Bourne Legacy is gonna be the first movie ever to succeed in box office and critical reception in a franchise that has a new lead since Tokyo Drift, xXx 2 and others are disappointments. This movie is going to prove that a franchise can survive with a new lead. HYPER-EXCITED TO WATCH THIS MOVIE !!!!!!

renner is so lame. his hawkeye sucked. he is just a boring actor.

Finally someone who talks some sense, I really don't get all the Renner hype, his face looks always tired and he doesn't suit any roles. He's as dull as dishwater.
      • The Town, anyone? He was awesome in that.
      • Blargh
        Screw you too.

And in the interests of actually saying something constructive - The Hurt Locker?

cue the single word announcement.... SOLD!!!
  • Xerxexx
Would really like a Bourne Cross meeting up moment in the film.
    • I was thinking the same thing.  Damon's Bourne could play a largely hidden, pivotal role in this story.  Reveal, meetup, action scene.  I'm in.

Cannot wait. Bourne AND Bond in the same year? Christmas came early this year...
  • oh Hollywood, y u so holivood
What did Matt Damon say about another sequel after his last one?..oh should be called Bourne redundancy.... ..still looks like fun...
  • Teacherkid
I'm more excited to see what Renner can do after I felt so short-changed in Avengers. Looks good!

    Looks fun.
    Excellent trailer. Terrible beard.

Okay, all the Jeremy Renner haters out there, why even comment here? If you don't like him, don't watch his movies. Simple. Why do you have to go into places like this and start shitting out of your mouths? Go away. Jeremy Renner lame? Not by a damn sight! Check this out, nominations and wins for numerous awards. That list goes on and on and on!!! That's not lame by anyone's standards. Lacks the charisma of Damion? Uhm, Matt Damon would disagree with you by their own words of support for Renner. "When Damon and Greengrass — who directed the second and third "Bourne" films — met to move forward with the series after "Ultimatum," Renner was a topic of conversation. "When Paul Greengrass and I were talking about the character and maybe doing a fourth one a couple years ago and maybe passing it off to somebody, Renner was the guy we talked about. He's an obvious choice, because he's such a good actor and can carry a movie," Damon said. Check out this link to read the article and to watch videos of Matt complementing Renner. Besides, Renner is not Damon, and Damon is not Renner. Damon said in this article that he's a HUGE FAN OF RENNERS. So where do you guys get off comparing Renner to Damon and telling us Renner lacks the charisma of Damon. He's obviously got something a LOT OF PEOPLE like, just because you don't see it is not his fault. You guys who say he's lame, lacks charisma or can't carry a movie don't know what you're talking about. You're not expressing an opinion if what you say is uninformed and lacks any kind of thought.  Jeremy Renner is a damn fine actor, no doubt about that! He certainly can carry a movie and several big names in Hollywood think so, obviously. He'll be around a long time no matter if YOU like him or not. I'm eagerly awaiting Bourne Legacy this Aug and no doubt I'll be seeing it more than once.

Renner looks more natural in the action sequences. I like him better than Damon, Matt was very stiff. Like he never broke a sweat, like he was god. Renner looks more realistic, which ads more power to the tone of the movie.
    • Damon never broke a sweat? Did you not watch Ultimatum where he fights the guy in Tangiers.
  • grimjob
Looks pretty cool, I hope they do a good job with this. Its still weird to see D'Agastino as a box-office draw. Good for him.
  • originalcyn
Looks great, Renner will do a great job. Loved Joan Allen in the series.. im happy to see Rachel Weisz in it too. Win!
  • cinemabandit
Does look like a good action flick, but I do wonder if the studio is trying to draw more from the story than is actually there.
  • dubdub
That fact that this has Rachel Weisz in it kind of changes the game for me.  In a good way...
    • Solo_Calrissian
She is almost deceptively hot.  I always find myself doing a double-take with how pretty she is, bc she never immediately comes to mind, but when i see her i'm like daaaaaang.  😉
  • Max Renn
  • Bourne again Fishtanks! Should be good.
  • Nuts4you
Wow what a total give away spoiler trailer. SOOOO stupid. Seriously they reveal 90% of the movie.  A pity.
  • Calfante
i think damon is the best...i dont know why they change him knowing that matt damon is really really good esp. in action.Matt Damon would've done this better than Renner...
  • mawria
Yep, I'm in. Whatever you're saying, people, I adore Jeremy Renner and I think he fits for these kinds of roles best. Can't wait to see him leading this film, which I believe he will manage perfectly.
  • Solo_Calrissian
Let the inevitable bourne/cross sequel talk begin...
  • artie
    looks amazing i can't wait
  • Rgrap25
Damn, did i just watch the whole movie for free? I just saved 12 bucks.
