Pain & Gain

After a couple cool posters with the muscles of Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson, the first trailer for Michael Bay's lower budget action thriller Pain & Gain has arrived. It definitely looks just like one of Bay's films with the sweeping camera shots and hot color palettes, but there's significantly less explosions. There's still plenty of super models, and a tone that feels like dimwitted, muscular Bad Boys doing a heist, so it's not something completely different for Bay, but it doesn't look half bad. Wahlberg and Johnson seem to make a great team, and Anthony Mackie is thrown in the mix too with Ed Harris in pursuit. Watch!

Here's the first trailer for Michael Bay's Pain & Gain originally from Yahoo:

Pain & Gain is directed by the one-and-only Michael Bay (Bad Boys I & II, The Rock, Armageddon, The Island, Transformers) from a script co-written by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely (Chronicles of Narnia, Captain America) and Scott Rosenberg (Con Air, High Fidelity, "Life on Mars"). The original idea was based on an Miami New Times article by Pete Collins. Bay filmed Pain & Gain down in Miami, Florida earlier this year. The cast also includes Rebel Wilson, Ed Harris, Anthony Mackie, Rob Corddry, Ken Jeong, Tony Shalhoub and Kurt Angle. Paramount will be releasing Pain & Gain starting April 26th next spring.

I'm a sucker for Bad Boys and comedy infused action, but I think that looks pretty bad.

Aesthetically this looks so uniquely Michael Bay, but actually even better looking than his usual! For a moment there it looked even serious, but then his humor was back 🙂

Much better than the big toy-robot-thingies saving the planet.

This is nothing like the real story...they left out a whole list of characters..it was way more people involved in this story than just the three main characters that are in this trailer...shame on you Michael Bay!This could have been your Fargo or Bank Job...

I love the fact that what ruined this movie for you was the fact that it wasn't 100% factual...not the fact that it was directed by Michael Bay

I just read the real story after watching the trailer and the movie probably would have been way better if it were more true to life. But it couldn't have been a Michael Bay movie if they kept with the actual story.

The characters seem like the exaggerated stereotype cast from a grand theft auto game.

this movie might be cool (i'm serious for once)

Is it possible that this could be worse than Transformers........Yup I believe it could. Can we please go back to te days when Bay made movies like The Rock?

if there is something I love it has to be the differences of Malick and Bay would anybody dream of the merger there between

Ok so Mark Wahlberg looks hilariously blown up in this...what a silly guy, I can't take him seriously even when he does a great job acting (see The Fighter) he's still Markie Mark to me. And yes, this movie could easily be the worst thing ever, but if it is even as good as Bad Boys, I will leave the theater happy. Should be good for some intense (if not campy) action and a couple good laughs. The trailer makes it look at least that promising...also loved that they used "Crown on the Ground" by Sleigh Bells during the cut shots over South Beach.
