Watch: Renner & Arterton in 'Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters' Trailer

"We've gotten a taste of blood. Witch blood." It's been long overdue, but Paramount and MGM have finally unveiled the first official trailer for Tommy Wirkola's action-packed fantasy Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters starring Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton as your new Hansel and Gretel. This looks like all sorts of crazy fun with witches shooting Gatling guns, plenty of explosions and a hint at the gory action of a R-rated movie (though there's no official rating yet) and some pretty creepy, ruthless witches, including one played by Famke Janssen. This looks like it's going to be over-the-top horror action fun next year.

Fifteen years after their traumatic gingerbread-house incident, siblings Hansel and Gretel (Renner and Arterton) have become a formidable team of bounty hunters who track and kill witches all over the world.

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters is directed by Norwegian filmmaker Tommy Wirkola (of Kill Buljo: The Movie, Dead Snow) who also wrote the script with Dante Harper. Famke Janssen, Peter Stormare and Zoe Bell also star in the film being produced by Adam McKay & Will Ferrell through their Gary Zanchez banner. Paramount releases Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters in theaters on January 13th next year. Thoughts?

this looks good (i LOVE the witches - they're badass!) - but, i thought "van helsing" looked good when the trailer hit - and it ended up being a dud. i'm cautiously optimistic on this film. i and on a WTF impression - GA sounds like she's reading from cue cards....either that or her acting sucks..............maybe it's just me, though.

Woah. Miss Arterton's American accent is quite good! Reminds of a THE BROTHERS GRIMM X THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN movie. In a good way? Brujas...

  Van Helsing was at worst, a very fast paced, action packed and somewhat cheesy adventure movie that brought a lot of classic characters together. Jackman, Whenam, Beckinsale, Roxburgh, and Hensley all kicked ass in their roles in that movie. This looks just plain bad.

    Which is interesting. This film is rated R...and it had a very 'If you are 14 you might think this is pretty cool' vibe to it. I don't see the audience for this one.

Hopefully it'll be the fun and campy spin on the old classic they're hinting at...neat concept but ouch, 2nd week in January? Jan - March do tend to be the studios' dump months

Jeremy Renner looks the same in every movie he's in. He needs to mix up his appearance and differentiate his character's more.

No mention of Fables comic book? I attached the James Jean cover with Hansel dishing out a drowning. I actually think it looks not so good but also completely watchable, I'll definitely see this, maybe not in a cinema though,
