"To the masses, it's a circus pitch." We've seen plenty of documentaries about sports, but what about a doc about a certain pitch in baseball - the knuckleball. Yes indeed, the filmmakers behind Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work have made a doc called Knuckleball!, about the two MLB pitchers from the 2011 series who threw knuckleballs, the kind of pitch that floats in the air first before dropping into a strike. It's unpredictable and not many pitchers use it anymore, except these two guys. Tipped via SlashFilm, looks like they've capture a lot of great emotion behind the stories. "A doc that showcases baseball's most unpredictable pitch." Enjoy!
Watch the official trailer for Ricki Stern & Anne Sundberg's doc Knuckleball!, found on YouTube:
Knuckleball! is a classic sports story that recounts the 2011 journey of the last professional knuckleball pitchers: Tim Wakefield, a 17-year Red Sox veteran, and Mets up-and-comer R.A. Dickey. Together with just four other living knuckleballers, they shine a light on their remarkable brotherhood and the shared pursuit of honor and craftsmanship. Directed by acclaimed filmmakers Ricki Stern and Annie Sundberg, of Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work, The Devil Came on Horseback and The Trials of Darryl Hunt previously, the sports doc explores the history of baseball's most intriguing (and unpredictable) pitch. Knuckleball! arrives in limited theaters & VOD on September 18th next month. For more, visit the official website or facebook.
