"Complicated fellow, isn't he?" Just 24 hours after it was first revealed that actor Josh Dallas would not be reprising his role as Fandral in Marvel's Thor 2 sequel, being directed by Alan Taylor this summer, a replacement has already been named. THR says that instead of Dallas, they've cast Zachary Levi to play Fandral, one of the Warriors Three, already seen in the first Thor. They remind us that talks are "at an early stage — negotiations have not yet begun, according to sources — but an offer is imminent." Levi's cult hit TV show Chuck just wrapped up earlier this year, but Dallas left because he is now on ABC's Once Upon a Time.
Marvel's Thor 2 is gearing up for a fast start this summer, following Iron Man 3 which is already shooting. "Game of Thrones" director Alan Taylor has already cast Mads Mikkelsen as one of the newcomers, playing the villain. Of course, returning are Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Idris Elba and Anthony Hopkins. Levi was in talks originally back when Thor was casting to play the role of Fandral, but had to leave because Chuck got picked up for another season. Now that Dallas had to leave the role because he got a TV show, it's Levi's gig once again. The perfect tag-in. I actually recall Josh Dallas giving a great performance as Fandral, but I'm very curious to see how Levi does, and how the Warriors Three are used, in this next Marvel sequel.
