Aaron Taylor-Johnson is Quicksilver in 'The Avengers: Age of Ultron'?
This rumor has been gestating for months now, but it sounds like it might finally be official. Just yesterday we heard from Samuel L. Jackson himself that Elizabeth Olsen was confirmed to join The Avengers: Age of Ultron as Scarlet Witch, and Deadline followed up saying her deal was nearly closed, and it was unlikely that it wouldn't come through. Now we have word on the female superhero's brother Quicksilver, as Latino Review reports Aaron Taylor-Johnson has closed his deal to play the speedy hero in the sequel form director Joss Whedon. It's a big step up from his more grounded exploits as Mark Millar's hero Kick-Ass.
For those who don't know, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are brother and sister, and actually the offspring of the mutant villain Magneto (but that detail can't be used since X-Men rights sit over at Fox). Funnily enough Quicksilver will also be seen in X-Men: Days of Future Past, but Evan Peters will be playing the character in Bryan Singer's sequel. Quicksilver is capable of moving and thinking at superhuman speeds. The hero can even reach supersonic speeds, and in the comic books, his speed allows him to run up walls, create cyclone-strength winds and run across the surface of water. However, his predilection to speed makes him impatient and abrasive as he always feels like he's waiting for the world to catch up with him. Sounds like a good role for Taylor-Johnson, and he and Olsen should make fine hero additions to the cast.
