Antonio Campos' 'Simon Killer' with Brady Corbet Debuts a Trailer
"So what have you been doing in Paris?" Feast your eyes on this odd piece of cinema, or as one of the critics calls it, "a brilliantly orchestrated work of cinema." IFC Films has finally debuted their theatrical trailer for Antonio Campos' new film Simon Killer, starring Brady Corbet (seen in Funny Games, Melancholia) as an American tourist in Paris who falls for a prostitute and pulls some shady business. This premiered back at Sundance in early 2012 and has been on hold since. It got some dismal reviews, but I know our friend Jordan of The Film Stage loved it at least (not me). I admire this trailer, it's flashy and fits the film perfectly.
Watch the full theatrical US trailer for Antonio Campos' Simon Killer, in high def from Apple:
Simon Killer is an erotic and and psychological portrait of Simon (Corbet), a well-educated, handsome and seemingly sympathetic college graduate with just a hint of something off-putting enough to ignite a sense of concern. Recently heartbroken, Simon travels to Paris to clear his head. After several days of wandering aimlessly, Simon finds himself drawn into a sex parlor and has a sexual encounter with an exotic prostitute, Victoria (Mati Diop). The chemistry builds until they find themselves in a serious relationship, one that leads to blackmail, betrayal and the ultimate revelation of Simon's true nature. Simon Killer is co-written & directed by Antonio Campos, of the acclaimed 2008 indie Afterschool. IFC Films will release on April 5th.
