'Bad Teacher' Reunion: Cameron Diaz & Jason Segel to Make 'Sex Tape'
Over a year ago, we heard of a potential Bad Teacher reunion between supporting actor Jason Segel and director Jake Kasdan for a comedy called Sex Tape. The story follows a married couple who take a night off from their kids, decide to get adventurous and spice things up by making a private sex tape only to wake up the next morning and find that it's gone. Initially Reese Witherspoon was desired for the other lead role, but The Wrap reports Sony is in talks with Cameron Diaz to take the other lead role in the film, which isn't surprising since she was said to be in the mix when Kasdan boarded the project last April. More below!
Considering my chief complaint with Bad Teacher was that it needed more Jason Segel, I like the idea of reteaming him with Diaz for another R-rated comedy. It would have been nice to see an actress like Witherspoon take on a raunchy comedy, but this isn't bad either. Diaz's strongest work seems to come from edgier comedy, especially since action comedies featuring the actress (like Knight & Day and The Green Hornet) have bombed. This is definitely a comedy we'll be looking forward to down the road, so stay tuned for anymore updates as development continues.
