Bruce Campbell Back as Old Man Ash for 'Army of Darkness' Sequel?
Earlier this year, before the remake of Evil Dead even hit theaters, some details on the development of Evil Dead 4 surfaced, explaining that it would actually act as Army of Darkness 2. But since then, we haven't heard any news about how the script was coming along with Sam Raimi again working on his own cult classic horror franchise. Well, while appearing at the Wizard World Nashville Comic-Con, Bruce Campbell was asked about his participation in the sequel, which would seem integral. However, the actor admits that since 22 years has passed, and he's not as young as he used to be, he's not in a hurry to make it.
“The last one was 22 years ago. I just haven’t been racing to do it. Sam Raimi is just a little bit busy making the biggest movies in Hollywood. I use to be busy. Now I’m not. That’s why I’m here. . .
Ash would have to stop occasionally from chasing some deadite to catch his breath. Maybe we could do that, I guess. That would be exciting. Fight in a walker. That would be alright. Hit them with my cane. Fake them out, have a fake heart attack, distract a zombie. I like it. . .
Alright sir, the answer is yes.”
That mostly sounds like a big joke to us, but considering the tongue-in-cheek, campy nature of the horror franchise, we wouldn't put it past Campbell and Raimi to make Ash a geriatric man fighting against the dead with an armed walker. We're just hoping it comes together, because Evil Dead remake director Fede Alvarez discussed the possibility of merging the universes of his remake and the original series in a seventh film that would follow Army of Darkness 2 and Evil Dead 2 (the remake's sequel already in development). For now, we'll just wait for any official news and see what happens. Thoughts?
