Channing Tatum, Zoe Saldana & More to Voice del Toro's 'Book of Life'
For those who don't know, Guillermo del Toro is producing the animated feature The Book of Life for 20th Century Fox Animation. The film has been described as a Romeo and Juliet style love story set against a Mexican Day of the Dead backdrop and follows the journey of Manolo, a young man who is torn between fulfilling the expectations of his family and following his heart. Before choosing which path to follow, he embarks on an incredible adventure in three fantastical worlds where he must face his greatest fears. Now the voice cast has added Channing Tatum, Zoe Saldana, Diego Luna and Christina Applegate.
In addition, THR reports Ice Cube, Danny Trejo, Kate del Castillo, Cheech Marin, Hector Elizondo, Placido Domingo, Ana de la Reguera, Eugenio Derbez, comedian Gabriel Iglesias, radio personality Ricardo (“El Mandril”) Sanchez and del Toro's frequent collaborator Ron Perlman will voice characters in the film directed by Jorge Gutierrez, the co-creator of "El Tigre: The Many Adventures of Manny Rivera," and he also wrote the script with Doug Langdale. The animated film, which arrives October 17th, 2014, will also feature plenty of music, including covers of some popular songs and an original score and other songs from Brokeback Montain composer Gustavo Santaolalla. There's a lot of great talent here, so we're hoping for the best.
