Christian Bale Goes Blue Collar in First Trailer for 'Out of the Furnace'
We've seen Christian Bale get down and dirty in films like The Machinist and Rescue Dawn, and this time he dives back into gritty territory with Out of the Furnace, the new drama from Crazy Heart director Scott Cooper. Set in the heart of the struggling Rust Belt, Russell Baze (Bale) must help his Iraq War veteran brother (Casey Affleck) escape a ruthless crime ring (led by Woody Harrelson) in the Northeast after the police fail to get the job done. This looks like a truly original and powerful drama grounded firmly in the real world with Willem Dafoe and Sam Shepherd also starring. Watch the first trailer below!
Here's the first trailer for Scott Cooper's Out of the Furnace, originally from Apple:
Out of the Furnace is directed by Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart), who wrote the film with Brad Inglesby. Russell (Chistian Bale) and his younger brother Rodney (Casey Affleck) live in the economically-depressed Rust Belt, and have always dreamed of escaping and finding better lives. But when a cruel twist of fate lands Russell in prison, his brother is lured into one of the most violent and ruthless crime rings in the Northeast - a mistake that will almost cost him everything. Once released, Russell must choose between his own freedom, or seeking justice for his brother. Actors Woody Harrelson, Zoe Saldana, Forest Whitaker, Willem Dafoe and Sam Shepard also star in the film which Relativity Media releases November 27th.
