Confirmed: Chevy Chase & Beverly D'Angelo Back for New 'Vacation'
After recent reassurance from writers and debut directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein that they were working to get Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo to reprise their roles as Clark and Ellen Griswold for the gestation Vacation reboot at New Line, Variety has confirmed that the duo are now in talks for the comedy. Ed Helms leads the film as a grown up Rusty Griswold getting ready to embark on a family road trip of his own with his wife (recently cast Christina Applegate) and kids. While on this family trip to a currently unknown destination, Rusty makes a pit stop to see his mother and father. More below!
As expected, it sounds like Chase and D'Angelo will merely be making cameos as their past characters. Though it hasn't been very long since the duo portrayed the Griswolds. Even though the last Vacation film was Vegas Vacation back in 1997, Chase and D'Angelo played the Griswold parents in a series of holiday-themed Old Navy commercials that featured other cast members like Juliette Lewis and Anthony Michael Hall, who played Audrey and Rusty Gridwold in Christmas Vacation and the original Vacation respectively. Right now my faith in the writers (who also penned Horrible Bosses) is keeping me excited for the film, and having Chase and D'Angelo back in the mix is even better. Sound good?
