Though last month brought news that Tom Hiddleston was in talks to take the lead in F. Javier Gutierrez's remake of The Crow, a deal was never finalized. Alexander Skarsgard was apparently also tapped for the part, but that never came to fruition either. Now Deadline reports Relativity Media has landed on Fast & Furious 6 villain Luke Evans to play Eric Draven, who's resurrected as The Crow to avenge his wife's murder so he can reunite with her in the hereafter. Evans is currently negotiating a deal, and it sounds like this will be the one that comes through for a film that has gone through several potential leads. More below!
Evans was just recently given the lead in Dracula Year Zero and he also has a substantial role in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug later this year. Combine that with his bad guy turn in the aforementioned summer sequel, and Evans is on his way to becoming quite the high profile actor. The question is whether or not there's a hefty enough audience to really make this gestating project worth the wait. The script comes from Jesse Wigutow, and while we saw concept art over a year ago when bradley Cooper was attached, they may go in a new direction with Gutierrez directing.
