The Call

After a phone call kicked off the action in the surprising hit film Taken with Liam Neeson, now we have the aptly titled thriller The Call from director Brad Anderson (The Machinist, Transsiberian). Halle Berry leads the film as a 911 operator who ends up dealing with a killer from her past after a young girl calls the center, kidnapped in the trunk of a car. There's elements of Buried and Cellular with familiar tropes of all other kidnapping thrillers, so it's not all that thrilling. Plus, I feel like the odds of a single 911 operator encountering the same perpetrator like this are worse than the lottery, but it is a movie after all. Watch it!

Here's the first trailer for Brad Anderson's thriller The Call, originally from Yahoo:

Brad Anderson (The Machinist, Transsiberian) directs The Call from Exit Wounds writer Rich D'Ovidio. In order to save a young girl (Abigail Breslin), an emergency operator (Halle Berry) must confront a killer from her past. Michael Imperioli and Morris Chestnut also star in the thriller hitting theaters on March 15th.

My Gawd. It reminds of PHONE BOOTH. We are just going to watch a person sit there for 90 minutes and act nervous.

This looks like a horrible movie, first off what teenage girl uses a disposable cell phone is she a drug dealer? And why did they need a flashback sequence to tell us it was the same guy as at the start of the trailer, as if we forgot what happened literally less than 2 minutes ago

This YouTube comment just sums it up for me... "The editing in this so called 'feature-70%-of-the-movie' trailer is fucking awful..."

I girl is attacked by a killer, she hides under the bed, she makes a phone call for rescue, the protagonist picks up the phone and gives instructions, the killer drags the girl from under the bed, then the killer picks up the phone, and then... "I don't know who your are... I don't know what you want..." Everything in this trailer is Taken from a bunch of other movies.

I think this movie is the first to make it on the worst movie list of 2013.

Wow instead of making a trailer that makes you want to go and see the movie, they just show the whole plot.
