While the garbage found footage horror parody A Haunted House hits theaters this weekend, in a couple months one of the films in the crosshairs of the spoof will see its sequel hit the big screen. As we learned last fall, The Last Exorcism II hits theaters this March, and continues after the first film, finding Nell Sweetzer (Ashley Bell) alone and terrified in the woods. She tries to start a new life, but the evil inside of her has something else in mind. Now we have a first look at the sequel with an image from another exorcism. The sequel takes the route of The Blair Witch Project sequel and loses the found footage style in favor of a traditionally shot horror film. But with that comes horror cliches, and this doesn't look very scary.
Here's the first trailer for Damien Chazelle's The Last Exorcism II, originally from Yahoo:
Continuing where the first film left off, Nell Sweetzer (Ashley Bell) is found alone and terrified in the woods. Back in the relative safety of civilization, Nell realizes that she can’t remember entire portions of the previous months only that she is the last surviving member of her family. Just as Nell begins the difficult process of starting a new life, the evil force that once possessed her is back with other, unimaginably horrific plans that mean her last exorcism was just the beginning. Ed Gass-Donnelly directs The Last Exorcism II with a script from Damien Chazelle (Grand Piano). CBS Films sends the film to theaters March 1st, 2013.
