Those who have seen 2012 favorite The Intouchables already know - this guy is awesome. Late last night on a Saturday evening, X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer once again took to his twitter to announce another cast member of the new X-Men sequel. Singer wrote that he's "thrilled to welcome the brilliant #OmarSy from the amazing film #TheIntouchables to the cast of #Xmen #DaysofFuturePast!" Omar Sy is the award-winning French actor from The Intouchables, Micmacs and Mood Indigo coming up, and he's the latest to join Days of Future Past with just about every other superhero returning. A few weeks ago we also reported that Peter Dinklage is another new actor joining the X-Men cast, playing the villain.
Ever since charming audiences worldwide in The Intouchables, which first hit French theaters in 2011, Omar has been lining up a few major Hollywood roles. We reported that he's likely to star alongside Bradley Cooper in Chef, and he's also already starring in Michel Gondry's new film Mood Indigo, which will likely be a worldwide breakout. Beyond that, I wouldn't be surprised if he is auditioning or meeting for quite a few 2014+ roles we don't know about yet. This X-Men role being one of them. Early guesses for who Sy might be playing include the mutant Bishop, a member of "Xavier's Security Enforcers", but he was first introduced in "Uncanny X-Men" after the "Days of Future Past" arc. He could also be someone entirely new. Stay tuned.
