Hailee Steinfeld to Join Vince Vaughn in 'Term Life' Action Thriller
Though most audiences know Peter Billingsley as the child actor who stars in A Christmas Story, he's also a good friend of and frequent collaborator with the likes of Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau, having directed them both in Couples Retreat and produced their films like Iron Man and The Break-Up. Now The Wrap reports Billingsley is ready to make his sophomore directing effort in a completely different genre with Term Life, based on a graphic novel by A.J. Lieberman and Nick Thornborrow. And Vince Vaughn is slated to lead the film with True Grit and Ender's Game actress Hailee Steinfeld joining him. Read on!
The story follows a man named Nick Barrow (Vaughn) who makes his money planning heists and selling them to the highest bigger. But soon he finds himself being chased down by mobsters, assassins and corrupt cops. Thinking of his estranged daughter (Steinfeld), he takes out a million dollar insurance policy on himself, payable to her. However, thee policy doesn't take effect for 21 days and Nick has to try and stay alive for those three weeks with his daughter by his side.
We're really surprised this isn't an action comedy. We actually thought the same thing when Billingsley and Vaughn were said to be working on another straight-up action thriller called Triple Time last fall. It sounds like they've been looking for the right non-comedy project for awhile, and they might have found it. Here's hoping Billingsley has learned a thing or two from Favreau. Sound good?
