Indie Trailer Sunday: '1 The Movie' Documentary About Formula One
"Safety wasn't even an issue." Today's trailer is for a documentary that is a perfect follow-up to the Formula One racing move Rush, directed by Ron Howard, which will be hitting theaters on September 20th (watch that trailer). The doc is titled simply 1 (or 1 The Movie) and tells the story of the golden age of the sport when it "became terrifyingly dangerous." There's tons of impressive archival footage, lots of interviews, and a story of gladiators and adventurers in this. It's the perfect double feature with Rush. If anything, it should convince those who do not care for racing to respect the drivers and crews dedicated to this high risk sport.

Paul Crowder's 1 is an action documentary that tells the story of the golden age of Formula 1 racing, when the sport became terrifyingly dangerous. In the late 1960s, Formula 1 cars doubled their engine size and sprouted wings, making them incredibly quick, but even more hazardous. With money pouring in from sponsorship and a new worldwide television audience, superstar drivers were born, thrown like gladiators into the ring. The drivers were legendary with charisma and raw talent, but many of them paid the ultimate price. Narrated by Michael Fassbender, 1 follows the story of the drivers who raced on the edge and those who stood up to change the sport forever. First Look Studios will be releasing Crowder's doc 1 The Movie available on VOD starting October 11th this fall. For more details on the film, visit their Facebook page.
