Since the pregnancy advice book What to Expect When You're Expecting was turned into an ensemble romantic comedy, it's time for another series of life improvement books to hit the big screen. Alcon Entertainment, recently behind uplifting stories like The Blind Side and Dolphin Tale, is bringing the Chicken Soup for the Soul books to the big screen with Warner Bros. distributing. In what sounds like it will certainly be a cheesy melodrama, the film will bring a variety of characters and stories from extensive series of books to the big screen with Love Happens scribe Brandon Camp writing the script. Millions of books have been sold around the world, and it seems only fitting that the 20th anniversary of the launch of the series brings news of a film adaptation. In the publicity fluff, the CEO of the book series brand says, "Our fans and readers trust us as their source for positive and moving stories and they’re hungry for more. It would be a disservice to them not to bring Chicken Soup for the Soul to life in film." I suppose there has to be some sort of hokey drama like this each year so teenagers can go make out at the movies and couples can stop fighting for one night.
