James McAvoy Circling Lead Role in 'The Crow' Reboot at Relativity

Back in 2011, there were rumblings that Bradley Cooper was looking to take the lead role in a reboot of The Crow set up at Relativity Media. But the actor fell away from the project and names like Mark Wahlberg and Channing Tatum were said to be in consideration. However, those tow have gotten considerably more busy since then, and now a new name has emerged for the project. Bloody Disgusting has word that none other than James McAvoy (Wanted, X-Men: First Class) is now circling the role of Eric Draven, who's resurrected as The Crow to avenge his wife's murder so he can reunite with her in the hereafter. Read on!
McAvoy will be busy with X-Men: Days of Future past this year, but he could likely take on The Crow after he finishes shooting the sequel. He'd be an interesting choice to bring James O'Barr's comic to life again, but I'm just not sure the project is on such high demand to make it happen. F. Javier Gutierrez is directing the film with a script from Jesse Wigutow, and while we saw concept art over a year ago when Cooper was attached, they may go in a new direction since Juan Carlos Fresnadillo is no longer directing. Stay tuned.
