When the full cast was announced for The Expendables 3 as production began in Bulgaria, it was a bummer to see that long rumored names like Jackie Chan and Nicolas Cage ended up not being part of the cast. But with the cast making some shifts, such as replacing Bruce Willis with Harrison Ford, it's no surprise to learn that Cage's role is going to someone we wouldn't expect. Deadline has word that Kelsey Grammer is in the midst of finalizing a deal to join the cast. That's right, Dr. Frasier Crane is joining an ensemble of veteran action stars. As fun as Cage's addition would have been, this is more than intriguing.
One might think that his turn as a villain in Transformers: Age of Extinction is what landed him this job, but in fact, it's his turn as a tough guy in the canceled Starz series "Boss" that turned some heads. We're not sure how much action Grammer will see, but he'll be playing Bonaparte, an ex-mercenary who helps the Expendables in their mission, and we're interested to see how he works with Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Terry Crews, Antonio Banderas, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren and Wesley Snipes. The Expendables 3 arrives August 15th, 2014.
