Kevin Costner Has 'Midnight Delivery' for Producer Guillermo del Toro
Recently, Kevin Costner has been enjoying a bit of a career revival. In addition to this year's Man of Steel, Costner also has the sports drama Draft Day from director Ivan Reistman and the action thriller Three Days to Kill from director Luc Besson. Now THR has word Costner will also lead Midnight Delivery new thriller set up at Universal from producer Guillermo del Toro. In what sounds like it could be a continuance of Costner's career in the same vein as Liam Neeson in Taken, the film follows a father trying to save his estranged daughter from a Colombian gang by trafficking cocaine to London on a midnight flight.
Otto Bathurst, best known for his miniseries work across the pond on "Criminal Justice" and "Peaky Blinders," will direct the film with a script from Neil Cross, co-creator of "Luther" (which may also be heading to the big screen). And on top of all that, the story is based on an original idea by del Toro himself. Despite the generic nature of the plot, since the story comes from del Toro, we're thinking there are some cool twists and turns to make this interesting. Hopefully it's not just a slight variation on Neeson's forthcoming thriller Non-Stop. Will this career revival for Costner pan out? Let's hope so.
