'Kill Your Darlings' & 'Dallas Buyers Club' Set for Late 2013 Releases
Briefly: New release dates for two indie films coming up later this year. Sony Pictures Classics has finally set a date for Kill Your Darlings, the 1940's beat poet drama with a stellar young cast: Daniel Radcliffe, Dane DeHaan, Jack Huston and Ben Foster. The film premiered at Sundance 2013 to rave reviews (including from our own Ethan Anderton) and has now been scheduled for release on October 18th, 2013 later this fall. In addition, ERCboxoffice (via SlashFilm) also learned that Focus Features has set Dallas Buyers Club, directed by Jean-Marc Vallée, for release on December 6th, 2013 just a few months later.
As for Dallas Buyers Club, this is the film that Matthew McConaughey got really skinny for, as seen in set photos. McConaughey stars as Ron Woodroof, a drug-taking, women-loving, homophobic man who, in 1986 was diagnosed with HIV and helped create the Dallas Buyers Club, one of the first groups providing alternative AIDS treatments. The supporting cast includes Jennifer Garner, Jared Leto, Steve Zahn and Denis O'Hare. Both of these films, Kill Your Darlings and Dallas Buyers Club, are expected to get awards season acclaim and should do well scheduled for release in the later half of the year. I'm curious to see how Kill Your Darlings plays out in public, and I'm very interested to even see Dallas Buyers Club at all.
