Spooks / Kit Harrington

Early next year, "Game of Thrones" star Kit Harrington will be seen in the epic Pompeii, but soon he'll be bringing another TV series from across the pond to the big screen. THR has word that Harrington and Zero Dark Thirty star Jennifer Ehle are signed on to star in Spooks, an adaptation of the British spy drama series "Spooks: The Greater Good." American audiences might be more familiar with the series under the title "MI-5," and the original series star Peter Firth will be reprising his role from the show for the big screen adaptation. In addition, Bharat Nalluri, the original director from the show will be at the helm.

Original series producers Jane Featherstone and Stephen Garret will produce the film with Sherlock Holmes producer Ollie Madden from Shine Pictures. Production is supposed to begin early in 2014, and Madden says, ""We are delighted that Kit Harington, who blew us away as Jon Snow, will star in the lead role as Will Crombie, alongside the wonderful Jennifer Ehle as Dame Geraldine Maltby of MI5. Together with Peter Firth, who has been in this from the beginning, we’re thrilled to be bringing together such an exciting cast." Hopefully this won't just be for fans of the series in the UK and will make a good spy thriller.

Never seen Spooks, but I probably should have...
  • Glad to hear Peter Firth will be reprising the role of Harry Pearce. Spooks is an excellent procedural, especially seasons 1-7. Looking forward to this film adaptation and I would highly recommend the show to anyone who hasn't seen it.

I loved this series, though I miss some of the characters they killed off :( Can't wait to hear more of this!
