Kodi Smit-McPhee is Also Joining 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes'
From cannibals to vampires to apes. 16-year-old actor Kodi Smit-McPhee already has quite a career, but it continues to get more interesting. Earlier in the week, we reported that Zero Dark Thirty actor Jason Clarke had taken one of the leads in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the sequel to the Rise of the Planet of the Apes reboot from 2011, being directed by Matt Reeves (of Cloverfield, Let Me In). Deadline is reporting another new addition to the cast - Kodi Smit-McPhee, who voiced ParaNorman and worked with Matt Reeves on Let Me In, and stars in a couple other projects coming up including Jake Paltrow's Young Ones.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, as the new sequel is apparently titled, will take place 15 years after Rise of the Planet of the Apes with part of the film focusing on a group of human scientists trying to survive in San Francisco while the other part will focus on Caesar, struggling to rule over his new kingdom. No details have been revealed yet regarding who Kodi Smit-McPhee or Jason Clarke will be playing, but I'm excited for this nonetheless. Andy Serkis is returning to play Caesar, along with Terry Notary as Rocket and many of the other apes. Casting continues as they're gearing up to start shooting in order to make a May 2014 release date set by Fox. This is already a great cast so far that I'm sure will get even better as Reeves keeps casting.
