Kristen Wiig Confirmed for 'Anchorman: The Legend Continues' Role
Last December, we learned "Saturday Night Live" alum and Bridesmaids writer and star Kristen Wiig is being lined up to play a love interest for Steve Carell's dimwitted character Brick Tamland in Anchorman: The Legend Continues. While we don't have any confirmation on the character details, a tweet from Christina Applegate confirms the news, "So excited Kristen Wiig has joined our cast for [Anchorman 2]." And just to double confirm the story, writer and director Adam McKay also tweeted, "Just found out Kristen Wiig officially on board for Anchorman 2. Cannonball!" I'd say that's some great news. More below!
For a taste of what Kristen Wiig with a Ron Burgundy mustache-toting Will Ferrell, here you go:
Wiig is one of the top female comedy talents working today. Later this year she has Skeleton Twins with "SNL" cast member Bill Hader, and a big role in Ben Stiller's adaptation of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (see the first look photos right here). Anchorman: The Legend Continues is written and directed by Adam McKay, the man behind the original 2004 comedy Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy and films like Step Brothers and Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. The film reunites the Channel 4 News Team played by Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell and David Koechner, and cast members like Vince Vaughn and Christina Applegate are expected to return. The film hit theaters December 20th, 2013.
