A story of killers who win, and the society they build. We are proud to exclusively unveil this new Mondo poster art for the documentary The Act of Killing, one of the best docs out this year (watch the trailer), directed by Joshua Oppenheimer. The artwork is by Jay Shaw, a designer known for some very iconic art at Mondo including Rocky III, Kill List and the Pieta poster. See his full gallery here. Recalling the stories of Indonesian death squad leaders, The Act of Killing is one of the most powerful docs I've seen this year and I recommend it to all cinephiles, even though it's a hard watch and deals with brutal subject matter. As for this poster, it's vividly striking imagery that fits perfect with this compelling documentary. See in full below.
The poster will be available for purchase on Wednesday, 7/17. Here's the full art for The Act of Killing:

In this chilling and inventive documentary, executive produced by documentarians Errol Morris and Werner Herzog, the filmmakers examine a country where death squad leaders are celebrated as heroes, challenging them to reenact their real-life mass killings in the style of the American movies they love. The hallucinatory result is a cinematic fever dream, an unsettling journey deep into the imaginations of mass murderers and the shockingly banal regime of corruption and impunity they inhabit. After premiering at the Toronto and Telluride Film Festivals last year, Drafthouse Films acquired the doc and will be releasing Oppenheimer's The Act of Killing in limited theaters starting July 19th this summer. Highly recommended, it's incredible.
