Must Watch: 'Star Wars' Sequel 'The Empire Strikes Back' First Teaser
It's been a couple years since Star Wars blew audiences away in 1977, and now we're waiting for the next installment to hit theaters next summer on May 21st, 1980. We haven't heard much about the sequel, save for some crazy rumor about Darth Vader real identity, but now the first teaser trailer has arrived for the sequel which has the title The Empire Strikes Back. However, unlike most trailers that hit the big screen, this doesn't use any real footage from the sequel. Instead, it uses concept art from Ralph McQuarrie showing new planets, more droids, weird creatures and a lightsaber face-off between Luke Skywalker and the master of the dark side, Darth Vader. This is going to be so awesome! Watch it below!
Here's the first teaser trailer for Irvin Kirsher's The Empire Strikes Back, from StarWars.com:
The Empire Strikes Back is directed by Irvin Kirshner (The Flim Flam Man) and written by Leigh Brackett (The Big Sleep) and newcomer Lawrence Kasdan with a story from Star Wars director George Lucas. Plot details are scarce, but the title seems to indicate that Darth Vader and the Empire are planning to seek out the Rebel Alliance and get revenge for their devastating attack on the Death Star. As the trailer indicates, Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher will be back as Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia and Han Solo along with Chewbacca, C-3PO, R2-D2 and Billy Dee Williams as new character Lando Calrissian.
