Briefly: Relativity has announced and confirmed a release date for the film Jane Got a Gun, an action-western directed by Gavin O'Connor starring Natalie Portman. The production has been troubled, with big delays and creative issues with the previous director, Lynne Ramsay. Actors walked off of set, everything was temporarily shut down, but eventually they got a crew together to finish and filming wrapped. Despite all the troubles, Relativity Media is still planning to release the film and has officially set an August 29th, 2014 late summer release next year (same day as horrors The Loft & Jessabelle). Synopsis: A woman asks her ex-lover for help in order to save her outlaw husband from a gang out to kill him. Stay tuned for more.
The film's main cast, under the direction of Gavin O'Connor (of Miracle, Warrior), includes: Ewan McGregor, Joel Edgerton, Rodrigo Santoro and Noah Emmerich. Originally this had Michael Fassbender, Jude Law and Bradley Cooper set for roles before the big shake-up. In the end, Edgerton took the role playing Dan Frost. Brian Duffield's original Jane Got a Gun script landed in the Top 10 on the Black List in 2011, which helped push this into production to begin with. Logline from there: After her outlaw husband returns home shot with eight bullets and barely alive, Jane (Natalie Portman) reluctantly reaches out to an ex-lover to help her defend her farm when the time comes that her husband’s gang eventually tracks him down to finish the job.
