There's plenty of goodness that we're looking forward to at Comic-Con, but one of the more exciting possibilities seems to be have been debunked. With Star Wars: Episode VII on the horizon, this summer's pop culture convention would have been a great place to make some big announcements, especially since Harrison Ford will be at the convention again for Ender's Game. But since Disney has no plans for an official panel or big presence at the convention, any Star Wars news seemed like a long shot. Now that seems even more likely as Disney's D23 Expo has been confirmed to have a Star Wars presence.
Right now the only confirmed Star Wars presence comes from Disney's announcement is this:
Star Wars at D23 Expo! – For the first time at the D23 Expo, Star Wars fans can have access to experiences created for them by Lucasfilm and Disney. Darth Vader: The Evolution of a Villain, located in the DCP pavilion, showcases the development of the iconic villain from early concepts to striking realization. Crash Course in the Force: Star Wars Saga 101, presented by Lucasfilm’s resident authority Pablo Hidalgo in Stage 23, will give Star Wars newbies and experts alike a thorough grounding in all matters of the Force and the Star Wars legacy.
However, rumors have been swirling that the convention will see the studio confirm the return of Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher as Han Solo, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia. The convention takes place August 9th-11th, so it still might be a little early for some casting announcements, but we know that J.J. Abrams has been busy getting the film together for production in the United Kingdom sometime early in 2014, so the cast will have to be firmed up sooner than later. We're hoping to have a presence at D23, so stay tuned for any updates on Star Wars and also Marvel's plans as well.
