Last month we learned that the Paranormal Activity spin-off teased after the credits of Paranormal Activity 4 was being pushed back from this year's fall release date until January of 2014. Paramount Pictures decided their Jackass spin-off Bad Grandpa with Johnny Knoxville was better suited for October, but that doesn't mean they're giving up on the power of the blockbuster horror franchise. In fact, the studio will be doubling down on the series as Paranormal Activity 5 will arrive in theaters in October 0f 2014, about nine months after the spin-off, Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, arrives in theaters.
As we indicated last month, Paramount is hoping the same kind of audiences who turned out for The Devil Inside and its January release will find fun in the found footage spin-off next year. There wasn't much of an indicator of what to expect from the pseudo-sequel, but insiders have said that it will have a storyline rooted in a Catholic-based investigation into the supernatural. Maybe we can expect more of an exorcism sort of approach to the supernatural horror we've seen, or rather than using stationary footage from security cameras or rigged camcorders, this will give a first-person angle on the terror. Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones arrives January 3rd, 2014 and Paranormal Activity 5 arrives October 24th, 2014.
