Peter Dinklage to Lead R-Rated Leprechaun Comedy at Paramount
After Will Ferrell called the actor an angry elf in the holiday comedy Elf, fan favorite "Game of Thrones" star Peter Dinklage (who gets sassy in the Best Man Down trailer) will play a different mythical man of small stature for a more mature audience. THR has word that Dinklage is currently signed on to headline a new untitled comedy for Paramount Pictures which will see the actor played a man who tells people that he is a genuine leprechaun. Described as being in the vein of Bad Santa with Billy Bob Thornton as a drunk, crass, mall-employed Santa Claus, the film is said to be an R-rated comedy but with an emotional core.
That kind of film makes sense with Andrew Dodge behind the script. Though audiences might not know Dodge by name, he just scripted Bad Words, the directorial debut of Jason Bateman, which follows a bunch of foul-mouthed kids competing in a spelling bee. Dinklage is at the top of his game right now with his position as series regular on "Game of Thrones" and we'll see him enter comic book territory as villain Bolivar Trask in X-Men: Days of Future Past (see a first look at his character here). The actor has shown prime comedic value in Elf and Death at a Funeral (both versions) and we can't wait to see him funny again.
