Robin Wright and Naomi Watts in 'Two Mothers' International Trailer
"Here's to our mothers." Oh boy, this is sure to rile up some people. Gaumont has debuted a trailer for the new Anne Fontaine film Two Mothers, adapted from Doris Lessing's novel The Grandmothers. It stars Robin Wright and Naomi Watts as the mothers of two young, stunningly beautiful teenage boys, whom they each fall for. The sons are played by Xavier Samuel and James Frecheville, and the cast includes Ben Mendelsohn and Sophie Lowe. This premiered at Sundance recently and received scathing reviews from critics all over. Everything about this tells me to stay away, but that's just my own tastes. Take a look!
Watch the first international trailer for Anne Fontaine's Two Mothers, first found by Indiewire:
A gripping tale of love, lust, and the power of friendship, the film charts the unconventional and passionate affairs embarked upon by two lifelong friends, Lil and Roz, who fall in love with each other’s sons. Afraid of facing the ire and judgment of their insular seaside community, they continue the relationships in secret over the years. Once the affairs are discovered, it threatens to tear apart their lives and those of the boys.
Two Mothers is directed by Anne Fontaine, of Augustin, How I Killed My Father, Nathalie, The Girl from Monaco and Coco Before Chanel. The screenplay was written by Christopher Hampton (of Dangerous Liaisons, Atonement, Chéri, A Dangerous Method), based on Doris Lessing's novel. This premiered at the Sundance Film Festival this year. Exclusive Releasing picked it up then, but hasn't set any release date yet.
