Rumor: Penélope Cruz Already Eyed to Seduce James in 'Bond 24'
Considering that Sam Mendes was just reported to be taking on James Bond 24, and perhaps even James Bond 25, we're going to take this next casting report with a grain of salt since it still seems way too early to start down that road. However, Yahoo UK isn't one for unfounded gossip, and they have word that the lovely Spanish actress Penélope Cruz is already in talks to play one of the iconic Bond girls in the next 007 sequel starring Daniel Craig. By the time production begins (sometime in 2014), Cruz will actually be 40 years old, making her the oldest actress to play a Bond girl in the long-running spy franchise. More below!
The source is "close to the production" and claims, "the producers have tried to get Penelope before, but she has never been available because of other commitments. The discussions have been going on for some time and they are working out the contract details now." Rumors have swirled of Cruz's involvement before, and it helps that the actress' husband, Javier Bardem, played the villain in Skyfall, so discussions between Bond producers and director Sam Mendes likely wouldn't be all that hard to complete this early. The deal could've began during the production of Skyfall. But for now, this is one big rumor especially because production won't begin until next year. Either way, the thought of Cruz seducing Bond is certainly a very satisfying one.
