Sound Off: Goldberg & Rogen's 'This Is The End' - Your Thoughts?

This Is The End Sound Off

Now that you've seen it, what did you think? It's here! It's time! The apocalypse has arrived, what do you do? In theaters now is the comedy This Is The End, directed by Evan Goldberg & Seth Rogen and originally adapted from the short Jay & Seth vs. the Apocalypse. This time they upped the ante - five actors playing themselves get stuck inside James Franco's house in LA when the apocalypse hits. Franco is joined by Seth Rogen and Jay Baruchel, along with Jonah Hill, Craig Robinson and Danny McBride. Is it the best comedy of the year? Once you've seen it, leave a comment with your thoughts on This Is The End.

To fuel the fires of Hell, I just watched This Is The End recently and enjoyed it quite a bit. It's filled with hilarious moments and one hell of a wacky buddy story, but it's a ton of stupid fun. I didn't really care for Jonah Hill much, but Seth, Jay and Craig were excellent, and Danny McBride played such a perfectly nasty guy. It took a bit too long to get going once they get out of the airport, get to the party, and finally the apocalyptic shit happens and that's when it gets really good. Though I also wasn't a big fan of the end, or at least the insanely trippy things they started throwing in like gigantic demons with penises swinging around. I didn't love it as much as Jeremy, but it is a fun comedy made by a bunch of friends just having a good time.

What did you think of This Is The End? One of the best comedies ever or an unfunny disaster? We will remove any comments that indicate you have not seen the movie, as this area is meant to discuss the film only once you have seen it and can talk about your thoughts. Great comedy. Best of the summer hands down, and one hell of a cameo near the end. Every actor was top notch, Especially Craig Robinson and Danny McBride. Watson was a delight. Overall its a solid 8/10 in my book.
    • That cameo really was great. Came as a complete surprise.

Amazing, the trailer shows off points in the movie that they have cut out so that some of those moments u seen in the trailer have different punchlines in the movie... and its hilarious

    • As is the norm for every Sound Off, "this area is meant to discuss the film only once you have seen it and can talk about your thoughts." Also, what big spoil? Nothing major. Go see it.

The movie was a good laugh and had some really funny moments. Personal favourite moment is when they start kicking around the head. Hilarious. The very very ending was a bit much but whatever. Still a funny movie.

My expectations were incredibly high so I spent a lot of time being a little disappointed but it certainly picked up speed. Quality film, though. 7/10. Just some notes the final scene with Whitney Huston playing was one of the best I've scene in cinematic history. Also the demon concept and design was better than most serious movies.
I thought it was pretty funny, but my expectations were much higher. This was the "Dream Team" of Apatow Vanguard so I thought I was going to be rolling the whole time. I laughed, but definitely not as much I thought I was going to. I will also give a hat tip to Craig Robinson and Danny McBride. They really stole the show.

This is easily the most I have laughed in a theatre in a LONG time. The film is great - the first act, is solid and gives you a look at what feels like a fairly real representation of what LA life is like for these guys (like Funny People's 1st half did) and then it turns into a balls-out comedy that is consistently funny the whole way through. I'm very impressed and highly recommend it.

too bad Emma Watson is still protecting her onscreen virginity, could have one wild time at the end of the world!
