Steve Martin & Jennifer Lopez Go 'Home' for DreamWorks Animation
DreamWorks Animation has had "The Big Bang Theory" star and singer Rihanna on board their animated venture Home (formerly known as Happy Smekday!) since the summer of 2012, but now some new cast members have finally been added. The Wrap has learned that Steve Martin and Jennifer Lopez have been added to the cast of the film which follows an alien race invading Earth and using it as a hideout from their mortal enemy. But when one lowly alien (Parsons) accidentally notifies the enemies of his whereabouts, he is forced to go on the run with a stubborn teenage girl (Rihanna) to right all of his wrongs.
Martin will voice Captain Smek, the leader of the alien race known as Boov, an overly optimistic species convinced they're doing humans a big favor by relocating them. Meanwhile, Lopez is playing the teenage girl's mother, in a role that will reunite her with Tim Johnson, the director of her first animated venture, the A Bug's Life copycat, Antz. Hopefully the adaptation of Adam Rex's children's book is one of DreamWorks Animation's better films to go along with hits like Shrek, How to Train Your Dragon and Kung Fu Panda. There's likely more voice casting coming. Home hits theaters Thanksgiving weekend in 2014.
