Ass Backwards Interview - June Diane Raphael & Casey Wilson

After premiering their film Ass Backwards in the Park City at Midnight section of the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, writers and stars Casey Wilson & June Diane Raphael couldn't have been more happy and proud of their hilarious road trip comedy that has flares of Dumb & Dumber and Romy & Michelle's High School Reunion. Thankfully, the female comedy duo took the time to sit down for an interview which resulted in some sultry casting couch talk, Britney Spears quotes and more. In addition, director Chris Nelson sat down to talk about entering the female comedy world with Wilson and Raphael, and just letting these girls open up a whole can of crazy on the big screen with outlandish fashion and antics. Watch below!

Here's my chat with the lovely and hilarious Casey Wilson and June Diane Raphael:

And here's a slightly longer talk with Ass Backwards director Chris Nelson on Flipcam:

If you haven't read my full review of Ass Backwards yet, check out my complementary remarks right here. The film is such a fun ride for two best friends who live in their own little world, making for two of the most loveable losers I've ever encountered. My favorite takeaway from these chats was how Wilson and Raphael approach being funny females in an industry more obsessed with pretty women than hilarious ones. It's great to have women talent like this writing roles for themselves that Hollywood doesn't seem to be willing to dole out often. And even more refreshing was a male director like Chris Nelson not trying to reserve or hold back Wilson and Raphael as they cut loose in Ass Backwards. Hopefully it will be released this year.
