TGB Episode 163: The Master Craft of Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro

July 12, 2013

The Golden Briefcase - Guillermo del Toro

On this week's episode of The Golden Briefcase, hosts Tim Buel and Jeremy Kirk go through their latest picks of the week, the newest in DVD & Blu-ray releases, new trailers for for Schwarzenegger & Stallone's Escape Plan, Spike Lee's Oldboy remake, The Curse of Chucky and much more. The main topic of the night was a discussion on Mexican filmmaker extraordinaire Guillermo del Toro (of Cronos, Mimic, The Devil's Backbone, Blade II, Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth) in honor of his new film Pacific Rim hitting theaters. The guys go over del Toro's entire filmography, his overall aesthetic and the geekdom he surrounds himself with.

The Golden Briefcase is also broadcast LIVE on Wednesday nights starting ~7:30PM PST. You can listen in via our Ustream page or by visiting our own live page right here on FS. The podcast is just as fun to listen to live while it's being recorded, with plenty of special guests, so I suggest you tune in the next time it records.

Was really looking forward to chatting during this episode but was it not recorded live, or did I just miss the time, a tweet was never sent out to listen live. Have you guys just stop doing the live listens/chats anymore?

Hey man, I address it in the beginning of this episode but we're currently trying to find a better live solution because frankly, ustream blows. Keep your eyes peeled, we'll definitely announce when the live shows go up again! We miss them too!

        Vokle is really good.
  • Liked the Del Toro chat, I'm glad there is folks like him out there.

Glad you both enjoyed Spring Breakers! I feel the same about the movie. I was always fascinated with Korine's work, but I agree this is definitely one of his best.

Hey guys - like the podcast but use of the word 'spastic' in a non-medical, pejorative sense not cool :(
