Timothy Olyphant & Ben Schwartz Joining 'This Is Where I Leave You'
We already know director Shawn Levy is reateaming with his Date Night star Tina Fey for an adaptation of Jonathan Tropper's novel This Is Where I Leave You, but the cast has grown considerably since then. Jason Bateman returned to the project after departing when Adam Shankman opted not to direct the film, and now the cast also features Jane Fonda, Rose Byrne, Kathryn Hahn and Adam Driver from "Girls." But two more great additions have now surfaced as Deadline reports "Justified" star Timothy Olyphant and "Parks & Recreation" funnyman Ben Schwartz have landed a couple key roles. Read on!
Tropper is adapting his own novel for the screen about about four siblings who come home to sit shiva after their father passes away, and what happens when they're feel obligated to be under a single roof again for the first time in a decade as their father's dying wish. Fey is playing Bateman's older sister, a woman who is married and whose first love now has brain damage. Olyphant will play her next-door neighbor, who was in love with Fey's character when they were teens before an accident shattered their relationship and left him with a brain injury. Sounds like a really interesting performance for Olyphant.
Meanwhile, Schwartz will take a funny role as a rabbi tries to be much more cool than his job should allow. That's pretty much what his character Jean Ralphio does on "Parks & Recreation," so this should be great for Schwartz, a comedian who really needs to be utilized more on the big screen. In addition, THR adds news that Oz: The Great and Powerful supporting actress and "Burning Love" star Abigail Spencer will play Bateman's wife, whom he catches sleeping with his boss. This is quite an assembly of talent for what should be a solid comedic family drama.
