After Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock took the box office by storm with an impressive opening weekend of just over $39 million for their R-rated cop comedy The Heat, next year will see Kevin Hart and Ice Cube team up in a squad car as well. Ride Along is a new comedy from Think Like a Man and Fantastic Four director Tim Story which follows high-school security guard Ben (Hart) trying desperately to show decorated Atlanta detective James (Cube) that he’s more than just a video-game junkie who’s unworthy of James’ sister, Angela (Tika Sumpter). The only way to do that is to go on a ride along. Watch!
Here's the teaser trailer for Tim Story's Ride Along from the film's YouTube channel:
When a fast-talking guy (Kevin Hart) joins his girlfriend’s brother (Ice Cube), a hot-tempered cop, to patrol the streets of Atlanta, he gets entangled in the officer’s latest case. Now, in order to prove that he deserves his future bride, he must survive the most insane 24 hours of his life on a ride along designed to scare the hell out of him. But when the wild night leads them to the most notorious criminal in the city, all bets are off. John Leguizamo also stars in Ride Along, directed by Tim Story (Think Like a Man, Fantastic Four) and written by Greg Coolidge (Employee of the Month). The film hits theaters early next year on January 17th.
