Watch: Life Without Movies is Impossible in 'Final Cut 2013' Look Back
Taking a cue from this year's stellar sci-fi flick Gravity, last year's retrospective contributor Nick Bosworth from JoBlo.com is back with Final Cut 2013, and after checking out this look back, it's hard to disagree with his opening text that "Life without movies is impossible." Using 283 films from this year, including some clever lines referencing movies in Don Jon and Pain & Gain, this is a stylish look back at the year in film. From This is The End to The World's End and plenty of other films in between like Nebraska, Only God Forgives, Inside Llewyn Davis, Her, Despicable Me 2, Oblivion & more.
The video's editor, friend-of-the-site Nick Bosworth (found at @Nick_Boz), explains:
"It was another excellent year of cinema and we're not even done yet by a long shot. From 'Gravity' to 'Nebraska,' every genre has been re-defined with amazing new films that I have no doubt will be loved for many years to come. So in tradition as I've done for the past two years, I've put together this huge mashup of 283 films from the year for everyone to enjoy. There was plenty of sleepless nights with this one but it was all worth it in the end and I hope you all think so as well."
We love the cut to Woody Harrelson in Out of the Furnace following Danny McBride's request to kill him as Red in the faux Pineapple Express 2 from This is The End, not to mention the cut to awkward silence following Ron Burgundy's racism in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues. Plus there are some cool juxtapositions like a cut from Tom Hanks as Walt Disney in Saving Mr. Banks to the trippy Escape from Tomorrow indie shot unknowingly in Disney's theme parks. If you want to know what music was used in the video (like C2C's awesome track "Down the Road"), check out the video's YouTube page for a list. The clip list with all of the featured films will be coming soon. Cool?
