"He doesn't treat me like a princess. It's almost as if he doesn't know who I am." After the teaser trailer for Oliver Hirschbiegel's biopic on Princess Diana only showed Naomi Watts as the title royal, a new international trailer for Diana finally begins to unfold the whole story. "Lost" star Naveen Andrews plays Dr. Hasnat Kahn, who was her secret lover for two years before their relationship was revealed in 2008. At times this feels a bit melodramatic, but Watts' puts on an awards worthy performance, and the attention to detail to real-life is impressive, especially the sequence which turns into a real tabloid snapshot. Watch it!
Diana, originally Caught in Flight, is directed by German filmmaker Oliver Hirschbiegel (The Experiment, Downfall, The Invasion) described as the "love story between a princess locked in a tower and an ordinary man." The script from Stephen Jeffreys (The Libertine) is said to focus on Diana's secret two-year love affair in the mid-1990s with heart surgeon Dr. Hasnat Kahn that wasn't revealed until 2008. The cast includes Naveen Andrews as Dr. Khan. The film arrives internationally this October, and Entertainment One will release Diana in the United States, though there's still no official date set here yet. Stay tuned for updates.
