Grudge Match Trailer

"Time to train." Warner Bros has debuted the first official trailer for the movie Grudge Match, starring Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro as old timer boxers (Rocky and Raging Bull, but of course) who end up fighting each other one last time in a grudge match for the title. This plays much more like a broad mainstream comedy with supporting actors like Kevin Hart and Alan Arkin knocking out a few jokes throughout. This isn't exactly the triumphant return of these two greats in any kind of dramatic "they're back!" way, but it looks like a lot of fun. I'll probably be seeing it. Give it a look and tell us what you think?

Here's the first official trailer for Peter Segal's Grudge Match, direct from Warner Bros' YouTube:

Grudge Match is directed by Peter Segal (Tommy Boy, My Fellow Americans, 50 First Dates) with a script from "Entourage" creator Doug Ellin and "Late Show with David Letterman" scribe Rodney Rothman. The story unites Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro, known for iconic turns as boxers in Rocky and Raging Bull respectively, as two bitter boxing rivals who are coaxed back into the ring for a grudge match 50 years after they fought for the title. Kevin Hart, Alan Arkin, Kim Basinger and Jon Bernthal also star in the film which Warner Bros. Pictures will bring to theaters on Christmas Day, December 25th, this winter. Cool?

This does not look good. Looks like De Niro and Stallone took this as a quick payday.

Ill second that. Stallone I can buy, he's still got bulk to him...but De'Niro?

For me it's just that the jokes fall flat. If you can't get a couple of good jokes in the trailer then what does that say for the rest of the movie?

I dunno... i appreciated the meat bag reference.
          • The Adventures of Rocky & Bull Niro. Could go either way and I'm not holding my breath but still looking forward to this...and the meat bag joke just killed me!

Was quite sceptical about this before, but the trailer looked funnier than I thought it would be. Couple of scenes has a satirical feel to it about boxing film cliches, which would have been a really interesting approach. I hope it will turn out to be a funny movie and surprise everyone.

If they play up the comedy...a lot...this will do well.

This would of been awesome 20-25 years ago.

"Grudge Match" AKA Old actors scrape a paycheck. I look forward to the time when the old actors come to terms with their age and stop making movies they should have made 30 years ago.

I'm surprised you could get all that out whilst sucking cock. actors act, that's what they do. there's no real retirement age. you're saying don't make this movie cus their in their 60s?? what about Judi Dench, Clint Eastwood... and every other actor thats over 40. grow up
