Shane Carruth's Upstream Color

"Do you know this place?" Whoa. This is looking better the more we see, although personally I prefer to see less before it actually premieres at Sundance. Apple has debuted the third trailer following two very odd yet interesting teaser trailers for Shane Carruth's Upstream Color, his second feature following Primer, premiering at the Sundance Film Festival later this week. This trailer finally gives us a much deeper look at the story, the characters, what's going on (vaguely) and it looks incredibly good, as in it kind of reminds me of Terrence Malick meets Duncan Jones in a way. Can't wait to see it. This trailer is must watch, don't miss!

Here's the third official trailer for Shane Carruth's Upstream Color, originally from Apple:

The synopsis for Upstream Color included in the Sundance announcement states: "A man and woman are drawn together, entangled in the life cycle of an ageless organism. Identity becomes an illusion as they struggle to assemble the loose fragments of wrecked lives." The cast includes Amy Seimetz, Shane Carruth, Andrew Sensenig and Thiago Martins. This was officially announced as an in-competition film to premiere at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah this January. Distributor ERBP has also set an April 5th, 2013 theatrical release date for Upstream Color. We'll keep you updated on this straight from the fest.

Must watch indeed! I didn't get Primer, maybe i was a bit too young to understand it and I never revisited it. The cinematography in this trailer is mesmerizing and top-notch, that alone makes me want to watch this right now! And such a beautifully constructed trailer, that captivates you yet seems to give nothing away in terms of plot I'm looking forward for your review! Attending Sundance is so on my bucket list, just wanted to share :)

Why doesn`t this have a "Must Watch" in the title? Primer is brain busting cinema, and the trailer for Shane Carruth new film is fantastic. Can`t wait to see this!! Trailer gives nothing away, a rarity these days.
    • Good question! Deserves it. Just couldn't really fit it in the headline. Still is a must watch trailer, I agree!
  • Love it !
This is how you do a trailer! I don't have a clue what is going on and yet I am completely captivated by the images dancing in front of me! Looks like it's going to be another Primer. Can't wait.

I just have to say after having seen Primer in the theater years ago and screaming to everyone that they should see it that I come to a website were the people appreciate the movie as I do. I am crossing my fingers. I really want Shane Carrouth to be successful as a filmaker and for this to be awesome as hell. He gives us movies on the cheap that we can watch and discuss endlessly. That is what I want movies to be.
