Death of Superman Lives

At the end of January, our weekly Kickstart This feature gave the spotlight to the project The Death of Superman Lives, a documentary about director Tim Burton's failed attempt to reboot the Superman franchise back in the 1990s that had Nicolas Cage on board in the lead role. Now a teaser trailer for the documentary from Jon Schnepp is here, and it's a bit messy and strange, though it does show off the concept art that's been going around online of Cage in a Superman suit, and some of the villains and set pieces that would have been featured. There's no snippets of new information yet, but that will come in time.

The trailer for Jon Schnepp's documentary Death of Superman Lives: What Happened? via THR:

Jon Schnepp directs the Kickstarted film Death of Superman Lives: What Happened? The documentary aims to collect every piece of information available about the failed superhero effort Superman Lives, the film that would have been directed by Tim Burton and starring Nicolas Cage as the title superhero. The film has become legend since writer Kevin Smith described the project in great detail on one of his extensive "An Evening with Kevin Smith" programs, explaining that villains like Brainiac, Doomsday and Lex Luthor would all have been featured. The film is slated to arrive sometime in 2014. Stay tuned for more updates.
