Adam McKay & Will Ferrell Team Up Again for Animated 'Henchmen'
An animated short film called Henchmen: Ill Suited will premiere this week at the computer graphics and animation convention, SIGGRAPH 2014, in Vancouver. And now Deadline reports Adam McKay, Will Ferrell & Chris Henchy will act as creative collaborators and executive producers on a feature film version, simply called Henchmen, from Bron Studios. The original film follows a lowly janitor working in the bad guy museum of Supervillain City ends up inside a somewhat out-of-control super-powered space suit, and causes all kinds of mayhem. However, the feature length version will change things a bit. Read on!
Here's the teaser for the animated short premiering at SIGGRAPH 2014 this week:
The feature film adaptation will also feature some kind of twerp in a super suit, but there will also be the added element of a fallen henchman named Hank who rounds up a motley crew of blue-collar workers in the Union of Evil. But much like Megamind before this, Hank is forced to become a hero and rescue the kid in the suit and the missing woman he loves. Bron and Gary Sanchez also have a film called Welcome to Me with Kristen Wiig hitting TIFF next month, so their collaboration must have yielded positive results if they're reteaming again so soon. The original short's writer and director, Adam Wood, will be at the helm of the film written by "Saturday Night Live" writer Dennis McNicholas. Here's hoping this has more of a unique angle than what sounds like a remake of Megamind in the short plot synopsis. Thoughts?
