Once Ben Affleck is finished with Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, he's going to stick around Warner Bros. for an action thriller directed by Warrior helmer Gavin O'Connor. The movie is called The Accountant and comes from an original script by Bill Dubuque, the man responsible for writing The Judge (apparently this guy likes movie titles based on average occupations). Production is slated to begin in January and the supporting cast is starting to fill to with Variety reporting that Anna Kendrick is in early talks to take on her first real action flick and THR saying that J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) is also joining.
The Accountant follows a mild-mannered banking professional who moonlights as a lethal assassin. Sounds pretty generic, but maybe having O'Connor behind the camera and having a talented cast could make it work. As for who Kendrick and Simmons would play, there's no details on that front at all (funnily enough, both starred in Up in the Air, but didn't appear on screen together). In fact, plot details beyond the vague logline aren't really available, so maybe that means the script is actually good. Once Affleck is done with The Accountant, he'll move on to directing the adaptation of Live by Night, another Warner Bros. project.
