'Breaking Bad' Star Takes a Key Role in 'Maze Runner: Scorch Trials'
With a release date set for September 18th, 2015 the cast of the Maze Runner: Scorch Trials has to come together quickly for production to begin this fall on the sequel to last month's young adult sci-fi box office hit. Dylan O'Brien, Kaya Scodelario and Thomas Brodie-Sangster are returning from the first film, and we just learned they'll be joined by more young cast members Rosa Salazar and Jacob Lofland. The film also landed a villain in "Game of Thrones" star Aidan Gillen, and now "Breaking Bad" villain Giancarlo Esposito is taking a role in the film as well, but it doesn't sound like he'll be quite so menacing this time.
For those who don't know, the sequel follows the surviving group of teens who made it outside of the deadly maze and are now faced with a new set of challenges for survival in a futuristic world ravaged by devastation and disease. THR reports Esposito will play Jorge, a leader of a group of survivors known as the Cranks who end up encounter O'Brien's group. For those planning ahead, Jorge is a character who sticks around for the third chapter of the book trilogy, The Death Cure. Esposito will shoot his part in the sequel before moving on to play Akela, the leader of the wolf pack in The Jungle Book at Disney. Cool?
