Boyhood

Right now you can check out Boyhood in limited theaters, and it's slowly expanding to more around the country in the coming months. But for those who have already seen the Richard Linklater directed coming-of-age masterpiece, we have a very cool musical treat. In the film, Ethan Hawke gives his son (Ellar Coltrane) a gift he's called "The Black Album," which is a collection of what his character deems the greatest tracks from all of the solo albums by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr outside of their work as The Beatles. After the film premiered at Sundance, many wondered what was on the tracklist, and Buzzfeed has gotten the whole thing, hand-picked by Hawke and Linklater. Read on!

Here's the three-disc tracklist (with liner note) from "The Black Album" in Boyhood from Buzzfeed:

Filmed from 2002 to 2013, Boyhood covers 12 years in the life of a family. Mason (Ellar Coltrane) and his older sister, Samantha (Lorelei Linklater), learn to face the realities of growing up, while their divorced parents cope with the ongoing challenges of parenting in an ever-evolving landscape. Richard Linklater (Dazed and Confused, School of Rock, Before Sunrise, Bernie) directs the film, using the same actors, including Ethan Hawke and Patricia Arquette as the Mason's parents, over 11 years of production. The film premiered at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival and IFC Films will release it in limited theaters on July 11th.

So wild, I gave my 7 year old Beatles-obsessed daughter a similar collection of post-Beatles tracks...great selections, and nice to see Blow Away included too. So looking forward to this movie...

When I saw that scene in theaters, I was hoping that Linklater would release the tracklist for this! Awesome
