We've only gotten a couple first look photos from the period drama Child 44 starring Tom Hardy and Noomi Rapace, and while it was thought that the film might make a worthy awards season release this year, Summit Entertainment is holding onto the film until next year. However, it's not getting a prime release in awards season like Martin Scorsese's Silence and Alejandro Gonzales Inarritu's The Revenant. Instead, the studio has announced the film will arrive on April 17th, 2015, just before blockbuster summer hits. We're not sure if that's a vote of confidence or lack thereof, but we're hopeful with Hardy on board.
For those unaware, the film from Safe House director Daniel Espinosa follows Hardy as a security guard and former war hero in Stalinist Russia, investigating a series of child murders and catching the attention of the government that is trying to hide them for some reason. Suddenly he finds himself framed by a colleague for treason and exiled to a remote outpost. Here he unearths a series of mysterious murders and vows to catch the elusive killer, despite powerful members of the government who wish to silence him. Gary Oldman plays the head of the police looking into this scary conspiracy and Rapace plays his wife. Good?
